Everyone is welcome
Two features
With its extensive collection and historical site, the Heritage Library Hendrik Conscience attracts a lot of people. From students and researchers to speakers and artists that want to use our rooms. We are doing everything so that as many people as possible can enjoy these two features.
Allrounder and networker
That is why Leni is such an allrounder. She knows the institution and the collection from by heart and loves to show everyone the ropes: this includes our partners within the Antwerp heritage field and even American film crews. As a networker, she meets a lot of people. From classical musicians to production teams that want to shoot scenes in the Nottebohm room for an upcoming film.
Offline and Online
Public engagement within the Heritage Library
A large network offers advantages for a strong collaboration. We organise most of the activities as a group. Big Flemish institutions like Herita and the Davids fund are regulars here, giving lectures and courses. This way, our institution becomes known outside of Antwerp as well.
We also organise our own workshops, group visits and tours. That is how visitors get to know how we work: our library its function and how we preserve such an impressive and fragile collection at the same time. Because tourists are often also interested in the Nottebohm room, we organise guided tours during the summer on Thursdays and Fridays.
Digital public engagement
At the same time, we are also starting to focus more on digital public engagement. Being online offers more advantages and makes us visible to a greater public. That is why we develop digital expositions on Google Arts & Culture. Leni also provides the digital products such as audio guides and videos for our exhibitions. She also posts the many internal stories on our social media channels.
Venue rental
Nottebohmroom
Leni guards the key to the Nottebohm room. Or at least the agenda. The gorgeous historical library room is unique in the Low Countries. It is no surprise that we get a ton of requests to come film here. Leni takes care of guiding the crew and ensuring that the other visitors experience the least amount of discomfort. She also manages the associated paperwork such as the bookings, cancellations and rebookings.
Contact public engagement
The Heritage Library Hendrik Conscience is always at your service. Ask Leni all your questions about our activities or the availability of the Nottebohm room, she is happy to help you!
